 5. Ben Tre has the most of great people, revolutionary generals and and heroes

Ben Tre was once dubbed the "holyland of genius", with great personalities and outstanding heroes. It is the homeland for the talented scholar Truong Vinh Ky, who mastered 26 languages and among the 18 world's most famed scholars of the late ninteenth century. Today, the people in his home village (in Vinh Thanh Commune, Cho Lach District) has built a memorial house to honour him.

Ben Tre is also the homeland of poet Phan Van Tri, a 19th-century patriotic poet who used his pen as a weapon to fight the country's conspirator Ton Tho Tuong. Ben Tre's government leadership has built a monumental house and a memorial complex for him in Thanh Phu Dong Commune, Giong Trom District.

Ba Tri District is home to the tomb of the teacher-poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu's,  the tomb of Phan Thanh Gian's - the Indochine first doctor degree holder, and the tomb of the master educator Vo Truong Toan's.

In Ben Tre, the temples of Military Commander Nguyen Ngoc Thang is still retained. Also, the old pagoda of Tuyen Linh - where Nguyen Sinh Sac, father of Uncle Ho Chi Minh, once came and stayed for a while - is maintained and put under careful conservation as it has been classified as a national cultural and historical relic.

6. Ben Tre home to the most resounding Dong Khoi uprising during the patriotic war 

On January 17, 1960, the people of Ben Tre semultaneously stood up for themselves in the Dong Khoi movement to fight and kill the evel forces of America and its allies in the South of Viet Nam. The movement first broke out in Dinh Thuy, Phuoc Hiep and Binh Khanh Communes, Mo Cay District, then quickly spread to other localities over the province, forming a powerful strength that combined armed fighting and political struggling. The resounding movement opened up a new trend for a broad war all over the Eight Sector that contributed greatly to the overall liberation of the  South Viet Nam.

7. Ben Tre has the strongest female brigade 

(The Female Unicorn Performing Group of Luong Hoa Commune)

During the time the Dong Khoi Uprising, for the first time in Ben Tre, an all-female brigade of uprising fighters, dubbed the Long Hair Brigade, or the Female Warriors of Coconut Woods, was ever born. Hundreds of women, married as well as unmarried, took to the streets and roads of the towns and districts all over the province for political struggling. History recorded that the Long Hair Brigade had played a considerable part to the success of the Dong Khoi Uprising, and their role was firmly established in the province's as well as the country's revolutionary history. After that, many other localities in the country also had female brigades like Ben Tre's Long Hair Brigade.

8. Ben Tre has the unique Female Unicorn Performing Group

The VietBooks Company and the VNA Publishing House have acknowledged the Female Unicorn Performing Group of Luong Hoa Commune, Giong Trom District, as the first and unique in Viet Nam. The group was formed in 1981 with 18-20 women who were Viet Nam's heroic mothers, martyrs' mothers and war disabled women. Most of them had been in the Long Hair Brigade in the war. To date, the group have gone to many localities,  both for entertainment performing and for propagating the revolutionary tradition to people.
