Ben Tre to grow 500 ha of aromatic coconut to serve for tourism

According to planning, Ben Tre is underway to carry out its grand project to grow 5,000 hectares of coconut as raw materials for industrial production from now to 2010. In addition, the province is also to grow 500 hectares of aromatic coconut to serve as tourist speciality.

Aromatic coconut is originated from Thailand. It is well known for its softly sweet milk with specific aromatic flavour, so it is strongly sold at rather high price. The tree is said to be easy to grow and fits in well with Ben Tre environment and soil properties.

The project to grow 500 hectares of aromatic coconut is aimed to create a stock of high-quality drinking coconut as a component of the ecotourism in Ben Tre.
