More optimism in Ben Tre's investment promotion

So far, investment promotion in the Province is moving smoothly forward. Lots of foreign investors have come in for the business environment studying here, so they may think of possible steps toward signing a memorandum for investment in projects that need large foreign capital in agro-product manufacture, aquafeed processing, garment manufacture, and eco-tourism, etc.

In May this year, 7 investors, domestic and foreign alike, came to the Province for investment surveillance. They were ll interested in several projects such as the concrete posts making in Phu Hung Commune (presented by the Song Da Construction Design Corp); the project to expand the resettlement residential area of Ao Sen-Cho Chua on a 4.7-ha space area (presented by the House Constructing and Trading Joint-Stock Company); the project of apparel accessories manufacture presented by the Taiwanese-Thai Namyang Corp; cocoa manufacture factory project (presented by a joint venture between the Tanimex company and a Vietnamese expatriate from France; fish breeding farm project in Thanh Tri Commune, Binh Dai District (Vietnamese expatriate from Australia); project to manufacture organic fertilizer from cocopeat in the Giao Long Industrial Park (Vietnamese expatriate from the US).

Besides, there are also other projects that are drawing the interest of investors and are under technical assistance in the post-licence period, including the Rong Vang project by the Hai Hoa Pte; the textile and dye manufacture invested by the Alliance One Textiel and Dye Limited Company (a Thai-Taiwanese joint venture); the ship building and residential area project in the Ba Tri Fishing Port (the South Korean Sekwang company); and the project to construct eco-tourist site in Con Noi (Floating Island) in Thanh Tan Commune, Mo Cay District (the Tan Son Nhat Airport AirServices Company).

One of the obstacles that has been hindering the moving forward of many of the Province's projects is that the pace of infrastructural construction in the industrial park and zone in Ben Tre is now in retard, os it has negatively affected the process of space delilvery to permitted investors.
