Christina Noble Children's Foundation sponsors many projects for Ben Tre children

The foundation is a world-wide non-government organization which is founded by Ms Christina Noble, a British charity worker. The organization operational aim is to give healthcare sservices and education support for children around the world, especially those with harsh difficulties in life.

Since 1998, through the linking work of the Department of Labour, Inability, and Social Affairs (DOLISA), the CNCF sponsored many projects for Ben Tre Province in education and health sectors with a total amount value equivalent to VND6 billion.

In an effort to prevent the increase of drop-outs among poor rural school children, the foundation sponsored VND1.2 billion to support 405 children to continue their schooling. Currently, there are 70 children of very poor families going to school with the CNCF support between VND300,000 to VND600,000 each per month.

During the past 8 years, 21 students fulfilled their studying courses and graduated from colleges, universities, and job training schools, and they all found jobs for their own.

What is more, the foundation also provided health assistance to poor and handicapped children in Ben Tre by sponsoring 4 cases of heart operation, 5 cases of bubonic and anal hernia sugery, and giving wheel-chairs and medical equipment to local healthcare units, all worth around VND600 million. At the moment, the fondation is planning to expand its children programs in years to come.

As for education, since 2001, the CNCF has started its sponsor to Ben Tre in building kindergartens for preschoolers. And it has helped with the construction of 18 structures including kindergartens, schools for primery children (totally 34 classrooms), and a healthcare station, all costed more than VND4 billion. The schools and healthcare station are located in poor communes of Giong Trom, Mo Cay, Thanh Phu, Ba Tri, Binh Dai, and Chau Thanh Districts. Among them, some have been recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training as nationally standardized, including the Tan Thanh and Thuan Dien Kindergartens in Giong Trom District. The foundation is planning to build many more kindergartens for Ben Tre Province such as the Chau Hoa and Thanh Phu Dong Kindergartens in Giong Trom District, the Binh Thang Kindergarten in Binh Dai District.

Besides, the foundation also plans a project to support poverty-eradication loan for poor households in Tan Binh Commune, Mo Cay District. The total fund for the program is estimated at VND200 million. And the loan is used for investment in agricultural production.

The CNCF support is very practically significant to Ben Tre Province at the moment. It has contributed to the Province's cause of serving children of mishap families.
