A performative model of tiger prawn culturing using microorganic ferment

Ben Tre Fishery Promotion Centre has just succeeded in building a performative model of tiger prawn culturing using microorganic ferment in the pond. This model is said to be a culturing process that applies the intensive culturing method, with installation of oxygen generating system and using totally microorganic ferment in the water pond, which has been under experimental model in Vinh an and An Hoa Tay Communes, Ba Tri District. After 101 to 112 days growing in the pond, with density of 40 individuals per squaremeter, the creatures could yield up to 10 to 12 tons per hectare of surface water area, sizing up to 37-38 individual per kilogram.

There are some advantages when applying this culturing process. First, the environmental criteria are always kept stable. Second, the shrimps grow to uniform size. Third, production costs are downed by 10% to 20% due to maximum restriction of toxic gas treatment, water coloring, and treatment of bacteria-related diseases in the shrimps.

It is hope that this model may be put into popular use in tiger prawn culturing farms in Ben Tre in a near future to help farmers here produce better results in shrimps culturing as well as protecting the environment.
