Ben Tre's first paper factory project kicked off

On December 7, 2007, the construction of the first ever paper factory in Ben Tre was kicked off in the GiaoLongIndustrial Park in Chau District. Ben Tre's Communist Party and People's Committee leaderships as well as officials from various departments and sectors in the province were present at the ceremony.

The paper factory project, which is in the first phase of investment, is an investment by the Dong Hai Ben Tre company. It is said to be built on 11.5 hectares of land area, its total investment capital is signed at VND1.137 billion, and it uses technologies from Europe, China, and inside Viet Nam.

The total capacity of the factory is set at 60,000 tons of products per annual. Once gone into operation, the factory would take full use of the local raw materials such as used paper, as well as used imported paper and paper pulp from abroad. The paper product is planned to supply for Vietnamese domestic market and for export.

The paper factory is planned to start production by December, 2008. When put into operation, it would create jobs for about 450 local labours.
