Spanish ADECOP to sponsor VND4-billion program for Ben Tre's children

A program of summer camp in Dalat and Nha Trang for Ben Tre's excellent school children of poor families will be organized by a Spanish humanitarian organization called ADECOP (Federaci de Asociaciones de Adopci Internacional), which is dedicated to adopted children around the world, according to Ms Nguyen Lan Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA). The program, Ms Lan Chau says, will be running from June 1 to 6, 2008, costing about VND246 million, and catering for 100 selected school children (of poor families).

Also, on April 7, 2008, the ADECOP donated 100 bicycles to school children of poor families in Thanh Phu and Ba Tri Districts. The donation was worth about VND130 million.

ADECOP was set up 15 years ago. It is now operating in 10 countries and territories around the world, including Viet Nam. Its aim is to support excellent school children of poor families to overcome hardship and move up in life. This year's summer camp is the first of 5 programs that the ADECOP will deploy to help school children of poor families in Ben Tre in the duration of 2008-2010. The total cost for these programs is said to be more than VND4 billion.
