Ben Tre and Quang Nam sign CCAM aid pact with Denmark Gov

Mr Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Province, attended the signing ceremony of an aid pact in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam province on June 13, 2009, by which the Dennish Government would subsidize Ben Tre and Quang Nam provinces US$17 million for the pivotal deployment of the Climate Change Accommodation and Minimization Program.


This subsidy is extracted from the total aid sum that the Dennish Government granted to the Vietnamese Government for carrying out the CCAM program. The program is meant to assist these provinces in readjusting many areas of life to accommodate to the affects by climatic changes. For example, Ben Tre will expand further mangrove salt-marsh in order to retard or even prevent the flooding process of parts of the land.
