239 scholarships sponsored by Terre des Hommes Germany given to poor and disabled children

Ben Tre Women Association held ceremony on August 29, 2009, to hand out scholarship to school-children who are disabled and in extreme hardship. A total of 239 scholarships, which were sponsored by Terre des Hommes Germany, a member of the Terre des Hommes International Federation, were given for the school year of 2009-2010 in Binh Dai, Chau Thanh Districts and Ben Tre City.

Among those receiving the scholarship, there were many children coming from miserably poor families.Take Le Thi Hong Gam for example. Her family is extremely poor, she herself has been born with disabled arms. However, Gam strived very hard to overcome the hardship of life and the humility of being disabled to go to school and be an excellent student. She is now in the fifth grade of the Lelmentary School of Phu Duc Commune, Chau Thanh District,Ben Tre Province.

This is the fifth consecutive year Terre des Hommes Germany sponsors scholarship to assist school-children from extremely poor families in Ben Tre Province. Each of the scholarships bears no large price value, but great spiritual encouragement to the school-children to overcome the hardship of life and go to school.
