Sci-Tech activities in Ben Tre in first 9 months of year

For the first 9 months of the year, Ben Tre’s science and technology sector have focused on developing and putting into operation the province’s main-point economic projects and programs. For specifics, the project to grow new 4,000 hectares of green-skinned pomelo has so far finished a green and safe production model, grown 500 hectares of new pomelo, expanded currently grown 1.340 hectares. Thus, the total area of green-skinned pomelo covering in Ben Tre so far has reached 3.284 hectares.

The project to develop 500 hectares of aromatic coconut (an item of a bigger program to grow anew 5,000 hectares of coconut in Ben Tre), for the moment, has passed the first phase, with an area of 50 hectares of demonstrative 10,000 coconut palms grown.

In the aquaculture industry, the sector has achieved and controlled the technology to breed the catfish in accordance with the SQF 1000CM standards; has successfully experimentally produced a diseas-free breed of tiger prawn.

The sector has continued to carry out the project to assist Ben Tre’s enterprises in upgrading capacity and integrating quality for 2008-2010 with vision to 2015. The propject is currently under preliminary stage to compile the documentation for the 4 approved program; the project to Assisting to Adapt Quality Control According to the ISO 9001:2000 into State Administrative Agencies in Ben Tre is going on deployment in 13 agencies, pushing the total number of agencies adapting this quanlity control system to 31.
