Cho Lach focuses on its 3 economic strong edges
With advantages of all-year-round fresh water, Cho Lach District, Ben Tre province, has in recent years been focusing on its 3 strongest economic edges including seedling farms, ornamental flower gardens, and orchads.
The District produces 140,000 tons of fruits annually, 15 to 17 million seedlings and 5 ornamental flowers and trees of all kinds.
At the same time, the quality of fruit, seedling, and ornamental and tree have also been raised thanks to a movement of intensive sci-tech application and effective species transformation. This in turn has helped increase economic value over a land area unit, averaging at VND55 million per hectare a year. In some cases, the annual revenues may pass VND100 million per hectare a year.
Until 2010, Cho Lach District is planning to further investment in order to increase even better effectiveness for its 3 economic edges. Specifically, it plans to develop 11,600 ha of fruit trees to achieve 160,000 tons per year, 50% of which is set to be speciality; seedling output is set to stablize at more than 15 million per year, as well as another 5-10 million ornamental flowers. Economic yielding is set to reach VND70 million per ha per year.
