Coconut processing and aquaproduct manufacture are Ben Tre's mainstay between 2006-2010

In an effort to boost the province's industrial development in the common cause of industrialization and modernization, Ben Tre's People's Committee has put into effect a new Decision on industrial development in the province during the period of 2006 and 2010 with a vision to 2020.

Ben Tre's ultimate goal in the new push for industrial development is to maintain the industrial growth at high pace, with positive changes in quality, efficiency and competitiveness, step by step to become the driving force in the province's economic development.

Ben Tre is set to strive to be come one of the provinces over the country to achieve the average or better annual industrial yield in 2020. In particular, coconut-based production and aquatic product processing industries are aimed to apply advanced technology into production and become the mainstay of the province's economy.

The industrial output value is targeted to achieve VND6,050 billion by 2010, and this would grow to VND25,000 during the period of 2011 and 2020. Of this, industrial production is targeted to VND1,940 billion by 2010, and coconut production value would be worth around VND650 billion.
