Ben Tre City modernizing bureaucratic formalities and procedures

Mr Nguyen Van Hung, Head of the Formalities Reform Center in the Department of Interior Affairs has said Ben Tre City's People's Committee is deploying the project to modernize administrative formalities and procedures done with the normal "one door" and inter-departmental "one door" and through computer network.

In a move to implement the guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) at the Document No 3353/LĐTBXH-VL dated on September 9, 2009, on foreign labourers working in the province, the People's Committee of Ben Tre Province has ordered the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) and District People's Committees and Ben Tre City to deploy the guidelines into several areas of task.

On August 11, 2009, the Central Government signed the Resolution No 34/NQ-CP to form Ben Tre City as a capital city of Ben Tre province. The newly formed city has a natural land area of 6,742.11 ha, a population of 143,639, and is composed of 16 smaller administrative units including 10 urban wards (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Phu Khuong and Phu Tan) and 6 outskirts communes (Son Dong, Binh Phu, Phu Hung, Nhon Thanh, Phu Nhuan and My Thanh An).

Ben Tre vows to achieve 40% skilled workers out of total workforce

From July, 2008, all departments, organizations, sectors and districts across the province will have to act drastically and in good coordination to put into life the 5 groups of tasks and solutions "to continue to build Viet Nam's working class in the time of accelerated industrialization and modernization of the country" as one item in the action program issued by Ben Tre Party Committee and the action plan of the People's Committee on "building and developing the workers from now until 2010 and looking to 2020".

Ben Tre streamlines its departments in accordance with Central Government Resolution

Based on the Resolution No 13/2008/NĐ-CP issued by the Government and a guiding document by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ben Tre People's Committee has issued 9 decisions to streamline its departments, and reorganize its specialised agencies into multidisciplinary departments.

Illegal fees and charges to be abolished: People's Committee's order

Minister's Decree No 24, Ben Tre's People's Committee has ordered departments
and services, provincial sectors and levels of authorities to upbeat their pace
to abolish illegal fees and charges that have been in effect so far.

2007, Ben Tre Township, Ben Tre Province, was recognized as the Class III

5 years of the patriotic movement among Catholics in Ben Tre

On July 10,
2007, Ben Tre's Catholic Unity Committee held a summation of 5 years between
2002 and 2007 of the patriotic movement among Catholics in the province. The
conference had the presence of Mr Huynh Thanh Hieu, Chief of the Provincial
People's Committee Secretariat; Mr Ho Vinh Sang, Chairman of the Provincial
Vietnamese National Front Committee; Colonel Vo Hong Quang, Commander-in-Chief
of the Provincial Military Headquarters; and other representatives of the
Religion Committee and the Provincial Police.
