South Korea’s Global Vision on gifts giving in Ben Tre

On September 15, 2011, the South Korean charitable organization Global Vision came to Ben Tre and collaborated with the province’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) to give 1,663 rations of charitable gift to poor people in Thanh Phu District. The total value for the gift giving was 1 million Vietnamese dongs. The gift giving event were attended by Mr Ngu Van Hoa – Vice Director of the Ben Tre DOLISA, and Mr Cho Myung Choel as a South Korean Global Vision representative.

Binh Dai pushes on the movement of rural roads construction

Career training for Ben Tre women is enhanced

In 2010, Ben Tre Women Association Center for Career Training opened several courses of job training and handing out primary professional certificate to 415 female labourers under trainging, who are unemployed and living in the rural areas, especially in the economically transforming areas. The overall funding for the project is estimated at VND600 million.

239 scholarships sponsored by Terre des Hommes Germany given to poor and disabled children

Ben Tre Women Association held ceremony on August 29, 2009, to hand out scholarships to school-children who are disabled and in extreme hardship. A total of 239 scholarships, which were sponsored by Terre des Hommes Germany, a member of the Terre des Hommes International Federation, were given for the school year of 2009-2010 in Binh Dai, Chau Thanh Districts and Ben Tre City.

Macau, a potential labour market for Vietnamese labourers

On June 9, 2009, the Dong Khoi Vocational Training College's Job Introduction Center collaborated with Forward, a Taiwan-based company, to hold a seminar for career consultancy and introduction of the labour market in Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The seminar was attended by dozens of the college's trainers and trainees.

A fund for taking care of the province's elderly to be set up

The People's Committee of Ben Tre Province has approved in principle the formation of a fund for use to take care of the elderly people as proposed by the Department of Finance. The fund is named the Elderly Care taking Fund, which is aimed to take care of the elderly in cuommunes, wards and towns of all districts and the Township.

272 scholarships given to disabled and orphan school children

In the mornign of October 19, 2008, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, with the help from the Police Newpaper of Ho Chi Minh City, granted 272 scholarships to disabled and orphan students. In addition, 280 other gifts were also given.
