Macau, a potential labour market for Vietnamese labourers

On June 9, 2009, the Dong Khoi Vocational Training College's Job Introduction Center collaborated with Forward, a Taiwan-based company, to hold a seminar for career consultancy and introduction of the labour market in Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The seminar was attended by dozens of the college's trainers and trainees.

A fund for taking care of the province's elderly to be set up

The People's Committee of Ben Tre Province has approved in principle the formation of a fund for use to take care of the elderly people as proposed by the Department of Finance. The fund is named the Elderly Care taking Fund, which is aimed to take care of the elderly in cuommunes, wards and towns of all districts and the Township.

272 scholarships given to disabled and orphan school children

In the mornign of October 19, 2008, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, with the help from the Police Newpaper of Ho Chi Minh City, granted 272 scholarships to disabled and orphan students. In addition, 280 other gifts were also given.

Ben Tre's Women helping each other improve livelihood

On celebrating the 78th year formation of Vietnam Women Association (20 October, 1930), in the morning of October 20, 2008, Ben Tre's Women Association held a meeting of the province's businesswomen. At the meeting, women of all ages recounted the heroic history of Vietnamese women in general and Ben Tre's women in particular during the wars against foreign invaders.

Multiple sources of loans helping farmers sustain household business

So far this year, farmers associations of all levels have been successful in motivating well-off members to share their helping hands to the poor ones. Supports have been given out in the form of cash, loans, plant seedlings or cattle, agricultural materials (such as furtilizer, insecticide, ...).

Ben Tre People's Committee Agreeing to move the Center for Registration and Driving Test

In a routine move, Ben Tre People's Committee has given its approval to the plan to move the Center for Registration and Driving Test from the old place at number 7 Nguyen Van Tu Street, Ward 7, BenTreTownship to the new site in Village 1, Huu Dinh Commuine, Chau Thanh District, BenTreProvince. The new site area are said to be about 6 hectares, while the old one is about 3.9 hectares.

200 scholarships given to students in Ben Tre sponsored by German Kinderhilfe Hoffnung Viet Nam

On October 1, 2008, Ben Tre’s Women Association held a scholarship giving ceremony sponsored by Germany-based Kinderhilfe Hoffnung Vietnam. The ceremony had the presence of Ms Ingrid Sperling, who was a Kinderhilfe Hoffnung representative, and Ms Phung Thi Nga as a representative of Kinderhilfe humanitarian projects managing unit in Viet Nam.

Young Lives project – A platform for children to show their thoughts about education for children

On August 12, 2008, Ben Tre's Youth
Union in collaboration with Save the children UK held the forum “We talk about
education for children with poverty”. The forum had the presence of 250
children coming from 8 districts and township in the province. Also present at
the forum were Mr Vo Thanh Hao – Ben Tre's Vice Chairman, Chief executive of
the project in Ben Tre

More Ben Tre workers going to work in Japan and South Korea

In the first half of this year, there were 514 workers enrolling to work abroad, and 281 of them were confirmed, according to labour authorities. As usual, the most crowded receiving countries are Japan (with 126 workers) and South Korea (with 101 workers).

World Bank delegation in Ben Tre for reality check

On April 27, 2008, representatives from the World Bank led by Ms Eija Pehu, Senior Adviser in the World Bank's Agriculture and Rural Development Department, came to Ben Tre on a visiting and working tour here.
