On November 6, 2008, the Military Telecommunication General Company (Viettel Telecom) in collaboration with Ben Tre's Department of Education and Training held a starting-of-work ceremony of the project to set up the Internet connection for the province's education sector.

Go-ahead for first ever university in Ben Tre

Ben Tre People's Committee has approved in principle the formation of the first ever university in the province. The approval document also mentioned the Dong Go Coconut Experiment Center (in the Luong Hoa Commune, Giong Trom District) as the prime locality for the university construction.

During this year's Green Summer Campaign, a mixed group of 6 Vietnamese and 6 American students have come to Dinh Thuy Commune, Mo Cay District, and built "nha tinh thuong'" (Houses of Mercy) for poor people in Dinh Nghia Village.

Ben Tre to train 207 more masters and doctors for high school by 2010

Ben Tre Province plans to train 207 more masters and doctors from now to 2010 to add to the pool of high school teachers, in which there are 202 masters and 5 doctors, according to the Department of Education and Training.

Doctor Nguyen Duc Hoe, Principal of the Dong Du Japanese Language School in Ho Chi Minh City and a member of the La Xanh (Green Leaves) Scholarship Fund, has accompanied Mr Iida Hiroyasu, head of the Vietnamese Children Fund Office in Tokyo, Japan, and Ms Kudo Yumiko, member of the La Xanh Scholarship Fund, on a visiting trip to the Primary School of Qui An Village, Hoa Loi Commune, Thanh Phu District.
