A contest to design logo and packaging for Ben Tre's green-skin pomelo

In an effort to select the best designs of logo and packaging for the green-skin pomelo, Ben Tre’s specialty fruit, the province’s Department of Science and Technology is in collaboration with related departments and organizations holding a province-wide contest to select the best designs of logo and packaging to represent the Ben Tre trademark for the commercial products of green-skin pomelo.

In the morning of August 5, 2008, in commemoration of Phan Thanh Gian - a great intellectual and mandarin under the Nguyen Dynasty - the People's Committee of Ba Tri District and Phan's relatives and descendants held the 141st anniversary of his death.

5. Ben Tre has the most of great people, revolutionary generals and and heroes
Ben Tre was once dubbed the "holyland of genius", with great personalities and outstanding heroes. It is the homeland for the talented scholar Truong Vinh Ky, who mastered 26 languages and among the 18 world's most famed scholars of the late ninteenth century. Today, the people in his home village (in Vinh Thanh Commune, Cho Lach District) has built a memorial house to honour him.

Le Cuong - "to live is to give"

Everyday, on the road from Tien Thuy to the Thanh Trieu crossroads, passerbys often see a 30-year-old man on wheelchair selling lottery tickets to passing people. So does his life go by, and he finds life full of joy not only from his daily earnings, but also from the compassionate looks from many kind-hearted people.

Sea-worm sauce

The Binh Dai sea in my home district has various kinds of seafood to offer visitors. Delicious dishes made from fish, shrimp, clam, shellfish, crab, etc and the likes have been so familiar.

Phu Le Communal House - a great cultural relic in Ben Tre

The old Communal House of Phu Le lies 40 kilometers by road from the Ben Tre Township toward the province's seaside district. It is seen as a place of spiritual inspiration and worship by the local people. Based on writings on remained stone stelae, historians have proved that the Phu Le Communal House was officially built under a directive by the Minh Mang King of the Nguyen Dynasty, issued on June 14, 1862.

French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City visits Ben Tre

Mr Nicolas Warnery, the French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City , has visited Ben Tre recently. During the visit, Mr Warnery met with Ben Tre's Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha, and worked with many of the province's departments and services on a range of social, economic and cultural issues, particularly the issue of French parents adopting Vietnamese children.

International experts delegation study shrimp culturing in Ben Tre

On the occasion of the Global Shrimp Growing Conference held lately in Ho Chi Minh City , a group of experts from many different countries came to Ben Tre to study shrimp culturing here. The major aspect that interested most experts was water environment and the chloramphenicol surplus in water, because it may directly affect consumer health, destroy the environment and may cause an unsustainable business.
