To date, Ben Tre province has 20 certified relics and monuments, of which there are 14 of national level and 6 provincial revolutionary historical monuments, memorial sites and relics.
Ben Tre was once dubbed the "holyland of genius", with great personalities and outstanding heroes. It is the homeland for the talented scholar Truong Vinh Ky, who mastered 26 languages and among the 18 world's most famed scholars of the late ninteenth century. Today, the people in his home village (in Vinh Thanh Commune, Cho Lach District) has built a memorial house to honour him.
Everyday, on the road from Tien Thuy to the Thanh Trieu crossroads, passerbys often see a 30-year-old man on wheelchair selling lottery tickets to passing people. So does his life go by, and he finds life full of joy not only from his daily earnings, but also from the compassionate looks from many kind-hearted people.
