Notable changes in the Investment Law 2014

On 26 November, 2014, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam passed Law No. 67/2014/QH13 on Investment (Investment Law 2014) with many new provisions that have significant impacts for both foreign and domestic investors. The law will take effect on July 1, 2015. Investment Law 2014 has shown several outstanding points compared with the Investment Law 2005.

PCI 2013: Ben Tre making leapfrog to top 6 best rankings

At the Launch of the 2013 Provincial Competitiveness Index last month in Ha Noi, held by the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) with support from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the ninth-year report indicated the comments of 8,093 non-state enterprises and opinions of 1,609 FDI businesses operating in the country over the quality of business environment governance in all 63 provinces and cities.

This year’s Provincial Competitiveness Index Report (PCI) reflects the assessment by 8,053 business entities in the private sector about business governance and investment environment among the country’s 63 provinces/cities during the past year.

A new 3-star hotel ready to serve tourists in Ben Tre

That newly built hotel is named Viet-Uc Hotel (or Vietnamese-Australian Hotel in English) was formally inaugurated in the evening of June 15, 2012, at 144 Hung Vuong Street, Ward 3, Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province. Former provincial and central government officials and current provincial leaders are among dignitary guests as well as important clients from outside the province present at the inauguration ceremony.

Co Chien Bridge construction kicked start

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung ordered the start of construction of Co Chien Bridge on Monday morning, March 7, 2011. The ceremony took place in the Tra Vinh province side of the future bridge.The new bridge is to be built at 3.6 km downstream from the current ferry site. It is a BOT project, invested by the Ministry of Transport.

Ben Tre's new Investment policies released

On January 22, 2010, Mr Nguyen Thai Xay, Chairman of Ben Tre's People's Committee, signed into effect Decision No 03/2010/QĐ-UBND thereby promulgating new preferential policies for investment in the province. This Decision is deemed to replaced an earlier Decision signed by the People's Committee on March 13, 2008, which contained regulations on the same area.

Ham Luong Bridge conjoined

At 7:00pm on November 22, 2009, the Bridge Construction No 2 Corporation, one of the main contractors working on the Ham Luong Bridge construction site, held the ceremony to conjoin the middle span of the birdge. According to Mr Le Manh Hung, Chief Supervisor for the Ham Luong Bridge construction, about 90% of construction volume has been done. And the bridge is planned to be technically opened on the 50th anniversary of Ben Tre Dong Khoi on January 17, 2010.

Czech OHL signing memorandum with Ben Tre on road and bridge building cooperation

On November 23, 2009, an OHL Corporation delegation paid avisit to Ben Tre and was received by Mr Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre People's Committee and many officials from the province's departments and sectors.
